About Us(Mission)

The Dover High Wellness Center is a school-based health clinic. 

  • Provide Dover High School students with a means of obtaining health services that can be coordinated with each teen’s family physician when possible.
  • Reduce health-related absences.
  • Meet not only the physical needs of today’s adolescent but also the health education, nutritional, mental and emotional needs.
  • Focus on prevention services with a goal of promoting positive physical and mental health.
  • Decrease in parental time away from work for medical appointments.
  • Allow easier access to healthcare.
  • Identify early and treat minor illnesses.

Enrollment

All parents /legal guardians of Dover High School students are encouraged to enroll their students with the Wellness Center.

  • The Bayhealth School-Based Wellness Center Parent Consent and Registration & Health History forms (total of four pages) must be completed and returned to the Wellness Center before services can be provided.  Links to PDF form files are below in Links Section.
  • Forms can be picked up in the main office, nurses office, guidance office and the Wellness Center.  Wellness Center Consent and Health History - Both must be completed by parent or legal guardian to become a member of the Wellness Center and prior to receiving Wellness Center services.
  • Health insurance information must be completed. The Dover High School Wellness Center is partially funded through the State of Delaware Public Health and reimbursed from insurance for those students who have insurance.  There is never a fee to the student.  Students without insurance are not denied.  

 Students who are 18 years old may enroll themselves.

Services by appointment only: 

  • Physical exams: routine, school, sports, camp, unified, Special Olympics and job.
  • Diagnosis and treatment of acute minor illnesses and injuries.
  • Health education of topics relevant to adolescents.
  • Evaluation and treatment of mental and emotional health needs.
  • Nutritional counseling.
  • PPD testing and reading.
  • Immunizations, including annual flu vaccines, in accordance with the Division of Public Health/VFC Program.
  • Confidential reproductive health counseling, testing and services.

The services available at the Wellness Center were developed by Public Health, Capital School District, and a Wellness Center Advisory Council composed of parents, students, faculty, and healthcare providers.

We accept referrals from all sources.  If you would like to refer someone or schedule an appointment for yourself please call the Wellness Center or stop by room #C100.
