Air Force Junior ROTC

The Dover High School Air Force Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps began in September of 1973. The unit has grown from about sixty-five students to our present enrollment of a more than one hundred and fifteen cadets.

DE-081 was first organized as a cadet squadron and is now a cadet group with a group headquarters section and three cadet squadrons. The Cadet Group Corps Commander is responsible for the operation and supervision of the entire unit.

The success enjoyed by thousands of students who have participated in JROTC in the past years is the result of hard work and dedication to the mission of the program.

This year AFJROTC DE-081 celebrates forty four years of “Building Better Citizens for America”.

AFJROTC DE-081 Mission Statement: To build better citizens for America by establishing a standard of values for respect, honor, integrity, and discipline through community service, school involvement, and extracurricular activities.

"Develop citizens of character dedicated to serving their nation and community.”

The objectives of JROTC are to educate and train high school cadets in citizenship, promote community service, instill responsibility, character, and self-discipline, and provide instruction in air and space fundamentals.

The AFJROTC program is grounded in the Air Force core values of integrity first, service before self, and excellence in all we do. The curriculum emphasizes the Air Force heritage and traditions, the development of flight, applied flight sciences, military aerospace policies, and space exploration.
